The receiver can fit inside outdoor transformer such as Intermatic, inside the transformer box connecting on the 12V side in and out to the light . This will protect the unit from the weather
The Remote will work up to 30ft from transformer and looks like a car remote and you can connect to your key ring
it is an on/off switch allowing you to change through colors or just on off for single color lights like white, blue or turtle friendly
